ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY, AN OVERVIEW
Our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practice treats patients who have disorders of the mouth, jaws, teeth and facial structures. We care for people with wisdom tooth problems, facial pain, and a variety of tumors and infections involving the oral-facial regions. Many patients have significant bite problems which require corrective jaw surgery, orthognathic surgery. We treat accident victims suffering facial injuries. We deal with disorders of the temporomandibular joint or TMJ. A relatively new and expanding area involves the replacement of missing teeth utilizing dental implants. Most procedures are completed in the office. They can also be done in conjunction with intravenous sedation or anesthesia if the patient wishes. The major surgical procedures are completed in the hospital operating room.
